Blackboard Collaborate Ultra allows faculty members to schedule online classes or office hours to communicate with students live or allow the students to watch recorded sessions. Collaborate Ultra is an interactive and effective teaching tool that is browser-based and does not require users to download a separate launcher (unlike Collaborate Classic) which allows users to schedule and record a session right within Blackboard itself! (We recommend using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox for the best user experience.)
Web conference participants can see others via webcam, hear and ask questions via voice or instant messaging, and share presentations and ideas using a common whiteboard or by sharing desktops. Sessions are recorded and can be posted with other course materials in a Blackboard course or shared outside of Blackboard as a direct link.
Features include: personalized user profiles, mobile access to live sessions including the ability to moderate a meeting on the Blackboard Instructor Mobile App, built in tutorials, browser-based (no need to download a java application), and participants and moderators can live caption sessions.
