DACC’s Tractor Trailer Driver Training courses provide the necessary training for men and women to prepare for a career in the trucking industry. This program has a ratio of four students per trainer. The curriculum for this course was designed to meet and exceed industry standards as well as the requirements of the Illinois Secretary of State's licensing standards.

DACC offers a 240 hour program in three formats:

  • 6 Week Day Course: Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • 15 Weekend Course: Saturday & Sunday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • 8 & 12 Week Night Course: Monday - Friday 5:00 - 9:00 p.m.

The DACC program is recognized as an eleven (11) credit hour course by the Illinois Community College Board. Upon successful completion of the program a Certificate of Completion is awarded to the students.

Students attending this program using Pell Grant funding (16 credit hours) are required to do a 10 week externship in addition to the 6 weeks training on campus.

Employment assistance is available. Recruiters from various companies visit our classes on a regular basis. Most students will receive multiple job offers during their training.

Qualifications

  • 21 years of age (for Interstate drivers) or 18 years of age (for Intrastate drivers: IL only)
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License
  • Successfully pass DOT Physical & Drug Screen
  • Be able to Read, Speak and Understand English
  • It is recommended that individuals obtain a copy of their Driver Record prior to starting the program.

The following may disqualify individuals

  • Driving record inconsistent with industry standards
  • Any alcohol or drug violations on motor vehicle record in the past three (3) years
  • Recent felony convictions or criminal background
  • History of drug or alcohol abuse
  • Permanent disability or physical limitations

240-Hour Course Fees

Tractor Trailer Driver Training (ELDT compliant) Theory: $250 BTW: $3,993
Illinois Class A CDL Permit and License Fee $50.00 (IL Secretary of State)

Individuals are responsible for the cost of their DOT physical and drug screen. Drug screen cost is $65 through Procom. More information will be given during registration.

  • Pell Grant - This Federal Grant is available for classes if you qualify: https://studentaid.gov/ Only for 16 credit hour option including externship. There are only 3 courses per calendar year available for Pell Grant funding. Call to learn of the Pell Grant course dates. Students must have a High School Diploma or GED.
