Teaching Philosophy

I chose teaching because of my ability to explain difficult concepts to students and because I enjoy that moment when students understand course material. There is a stigma attached to science courses that they are complicated and something few students will understand. I help students to grasp scientific concepts and to appreciate the living world around them by making the subject approachable and relevant to their daily lives. Someday, students will be productive citizens, voters, and parents. I want them to make informed decisions and realize that my class made a contribution to their lives.
