Mileage Reimbursement (Part-Time Instructors)

6030 Mileage Reimbursement (Part-Time Instructors)

The College will set forth procedures for the reimbursement of travel mileage for part-time faculty teaching credit classes.

Procedure

The College will reimburse part-time instructors for travel over twenty (20) miles per round trip at a rate equal to the IRS mileage reimbursement rate on July 1 of that year through June 30 of the following year. The maximum amount of mileage reimbursement per round trip will not exceed eighty (80) miles unless so warranted and approved through the Vice President for Instruction. The intent of Board Policy 6030 is to reimburse part-time faculty for mileage to and from the College, for normally scheduled classes, that exceeds 20 miles round trip. Part-time faculty are those faculty who are paid at the part-time faculty rate and are not employed by the College on a full-time basis for the academic year and teach credit classes. An itemized list of mileage and dates will be submitted on a Request for Payment form to the Division Chairperson by the instructor who is responsible. The Division Chairperson shall process the Request for Payment form through the appropriate procedures.

Example: A part-time instructor drives 100 miles round trip. Twenty (20) miles are deducted and the part-time instructor is reimbursed for 80 miles at the prevailing IRS mileage reimbursement rate.
