Certified Nurse Assistant Overview

This program is designed to prepare students to provide basic health care in hospitals and nursing homes. The program will provide training experience and educational opportunities that will benefit you and your community.

The class consists of two components:

1. 99 hours of classroom theory
2. 40 hours of clinical experience

Overall employment of nursing assistants and orderlies is projected to grow 3 percent from 2025 to 2035, about as fast as the average for all occupations.

About 203,300 openings for nursing assistants and orderlies are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Many of those openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who transfer to different occupations or exit the labor force, such as to retire.
