2027 DACC Commencement Information

The graduation application deadline to participate in the ceremony is April 15th, 2027.

Approved Regalia

Only approved regalia can be worn to the commencement ceremony. This includes DACC issued gown, DACC issued cap, DACC tassel, and approved honors regalia: gold honors cord, Summa Metal, Phi Theta Kapp stole

Honors Regalia

For commencement honors regalia is based on your cumulative Fall GPA. To check your cumulative grade point average at the end of Fall semester, please go to your DACC Unofficial Transcript on Self Service.

Honors Status GPA Requirement
Cum Laude status 3.500 - 3.749
Magna Cum Laude 3.750 - 3.999
Summa Cum Laude 4.000

Honors regalia is only provided to students walking in commencement unless requested by emailing records@dacc.edu.

Certificate completers are not eligible for graduation with honors.

Summa Cum laude candidates' cumulative grade point averages are calculated using the grades earned at DACC as well as any grades transferred in from other colleges that are used for degree completion.

Cap & Gown Information
  • Caps & Gowns are being paid for by DACC this year, so there is no cost to you.
  • They will be available the second Monday of April at DACC Follett Bookstore.
  • Cap Decoration Rules
    • No Inappropriate Verbiage: Profanity, explicit content, derogatory remarks, and political or religious controversial messages are strictly prohibited.
    • Flat Design Only: 3D objects, heavy materials, lights, and dangling items (like confetti or strings) are rarely allowed because they obstruct the view for other graduates and guests.
    • Size Limitations: Any added materials typically cannot extend beyond the edges of the cap or rise more than 1/4 of an inch above the surface.
  • Dress Code
    • Clothing: Business casual or formal attire is expected (e.g., collared shirts, slacks, dresses, or skirts)
    • Shoes: Comfortable dress shoes or wedges are highly recommended, Flip-flops, athletic sneakers, or overly high, unsteady heels are often restricted for safety reasons.
Diploma Covers
  • Padded diploma covers are complimentary for students who participate in the commencement ceremony. You will receive the padded cover as you cross the stage.
  • Students not attending commencement are able to purchase a diploma cover for $10 by going to the cashier's office in Vermilion Hall.
Secure Personal Items
  • Danville Area Community College does not guarantee the security of any personal items left unattended during commencement. Please either take personal items (purses, cellular phones, pagers, etc.) with you or leave them with a family member or guest.
  • All cellular phones and pagers must be turned off during the ceremony.
