Health Information Technology Overview

The Health Information Technology (HIT) Program is designed for dynamic careers in Health Information Management (HIM), combining competency based education with experiential learning to ensure graduates excel in today's evolving healthcare landscape. Accredited by CAHIIM, our program empowers students to earn the RHIT credential administered by AHIMA - a respected industry standard that opens doors to high-demand, high-paying roles in both on-site and remote settings.

This program offers a mixture of face-to-face classes on campus and online or HyFlex synchronous learning options. This format ensures that students have the in-person instruction needed to develop essential skills, while allowing flexibility for balancing work, family, or other responsibilities.

To stay ahead of industry advancements, we've revamped our curriculum to include cutting-edge certifications fully embedded or stackable with the two-year degree starting in 2025

Employment of health information technologists and medical registrars is projected to grow 15 percent from 2024 to 2034, much faster than the average for all occupations.

About 3,200 openings for health information technologists and medical registrars are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Many of those openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who transfer to different occupations or exit the labor force, such as to retire.
