Follett Access®

What is Follett Access?

Follett Access is a cost savings program where course materials are included in the cost of tuition and course fees. Students will have access to their materials the first day of class. This allows students to not only save money but to attend class with the confidence that they are prepared to succeed. All Follett Access courses require the digital version of the main text or eBook. There are courses that may require the physical version of the main text as well. This is also included in the cost tuition and course fees. Now there may be courses that do not require the physical text and students may have an issue with the eBook. For these courses, student will have to pay for the physical out of pocket. We will keep 1 - 3 copies of a low-cost loose-leaf version of the book. Prices can range from $26 - $75. Below are some frequently asked questions about Follett Access. If you have any questions, please contact the bookstore at follett@dacc.edu or call 217-443-8759.

How do students access their eBook?

They will access it on Canvas. Instructors should have instructions posted.

As an instructor, how do I tell my students how to access their eBook for my course? Where can I get instructions?

We highly recommend that instructors contact their publisher rep and ask how students will access their eBook from Canvas. Each publisher has their own unique way of distributing their digital material. Please try and contact your rep as soon as you know what materials you will use or no later than 2 - 3 weeks before your Follett Access course start date. Some publishers can also provide you with step-by-step instructions.

When can I get my materials?

Your eBook will be available on Canvas on the first day of class. If your class requires a physical book, you will receive an email informing you that the book is ready for pickup during the first week of classes.

My instructor didn't require the physical and I do not like the eBook. Is there a physical copy?

Yes, there may be physical copy available. Some publishers and/or titles have only eBooks. You can purchase the physical copy if available from us. This is not included in your tuition and course fees so you will have to pay out of pocket.

There is shipping delay on my physical book, won't I need it the first day?

There can be times when shipping can be delayed. Fortunately, you still have the eBook version of the physical book which can be used on the first day of class.

I just signed up for Follett Access class that starts tomorrow. Can I pick up my book tomorrow?

Due to return restrictions of sending books back to the publisher, we order according to enrollment. We check enrollment daily but order 1 - 2 tomes a week (to keep shipping costs down). Since most Follett Access books are custom loose leaf, it may take a week before the physical book arrives in the store. We do keep an extra copy or two to accommodate slight enrollment changes but if it raises quire a bit, there will be a wait for the physical.
