What is PLTW
PLTW is a program comprised of four courses that provides engaging STEM learning experiences. DACC offers a sequence that allows the student to earn up to fourteen (14) credit hours in pre-engineering courses designed to encourage interest in the engineering or manufacturing fields.
1st Year:
- FALL SEMESTER - Introduction to Engineering (DRAF 161) – taught by Doug Hunter, Manufacturing Instructor
- SPRING SEMESTER – Principles of Engineering (MFRG 120) – taught by Kathy Sturgeon, Dean of Math, Sciences & Health Professions & Physics Instructor
2nd Year:
- FALL SEMESTER – Digital Electronics (ELEC 273) – taught by Dr. Ben Jun, Electronics and Robotics Instructor
- SPRING SEMESTER – Computer Integrated Manufacturing – taught by Doug Hunter, Manufacturing Instructor, and Dr. Ben Jun, Electronic and Robotics Instructor (MFRG 280)

High School Sophomores and Seniors
When And Where Do The Classes Meet?
Classes run M-F from 7:30-9:00am on the Danville Area Community College campus. Transportation is worked out individually with each high school.
Why Study PLTW?
PLTW enhances technical math and science skills using project and problem-based learning activities. Students can easily transition into the Engineering or Manufacturing Programs at DACC and then transfer to a 4 year institution if desired. The demand in both areas is expected to continue to grow with salaries averaging from $50-120K. This program is a great way to set yourself apart from your peers when applying for internships, employment or college.
