A job in the HVAC-R field is by far, one of the most stable and rewarding job markets to be associated with. Nearly every home or business has a need for Heating, Cooling and/or Refrigeration. The always changing weather in the central United States keeps technicians and installers very busy throughout the year.
Students in this program will prepare for a future in HVAC-R with a hands on approach backed by easy to understand theory knowledge. Students will learn to maintain, troubleshoot, repair and install residential and commercial Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning systems and equipment.

ELEC 150 Electricity for HVAC | Fall 2024 | This course will cover electrical safety, reading wiring diagrams, basic electrical circuits, electrical meters, components, symbols and circuitry common to HVAC systems. Alternating current, power distribution, and voltage systems will be introduced. | |
HVAC 147 Principles of Air Conditioning | Spring 2025 | The student will learn the fundamentals of refrigeration and air conditioning theory which will include various condensers, evaporators, compressors, and related components. The student will become familiar with, and will demonstrate minor installation procedures, refrigerant control, metering of refrigerant for absorbing heat and tool care. | |
HVAC 150 Heating Plants | Fall 2025 | The course will cover forced air, air source heat pumps, geo-thermal heat pumps, gas radiant, electric, hydronic heating and indoor air quality. How the above is controlled, installed, maintained and serviced. | |
HVAC 200 Advanced Air Conditioning | Spring 2026 | The student will analyze and service air conditioning and refrigeration equipment with emphasis on the electrical components used in air conditioning and regrigeration equipment. He or she will be able to describe the operation of electrical components and troubleshoot these component in the system. |
