As part of Danville Area Community College’s College For Kids Camps, The Neuhoff Sports Media Camp is officially set to kick off from June 13th through June 17th of this year. This one of a kind experience is hands-on, interactive, and experimental. Participants will be able to interact with other students and professionals in the field to help them in all areas of radio, video productions, story writing, and more.
The schedule for the week includes the following:
Monday: Learn to edit footage, read from the teleprompter, and run cameras
Tuesday: Visit the WCIA 3 News Studio to hear from their sports reporters
Wednesday: Interviewing, podcasts, play-by-play commentary, and social media
Thursday: Attend the Danville Dans game
Friday: A trivia contest, more podcasts, writing, interviews, and work on a digital project
On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, the participants will be with Mike Hulvey. Mr. Hulvey is the Chief Operating Officer for Neuhoff Communications. He is also the Vice President of the International Broadcasters Idea Bank Board of Directors. Additionally, he assists in the radio production of the NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament at DACC.
Students who participate in this camp will have a lot of room to grow, learn, and develop as young sports media professionals. Previous DACC students have had opportunities to commentate DACC Jaguars and National Championship Tournament games. Having this experience could potentially propel students into the same position! Anyone who is interested in the sports media realm should join us for a lot of fun!
Any interested student between the ages of 10 and 17 can sign up. The cost is $75, and each day students will arrive at DACC and be there from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. every day.
Classes are filled on a first-come first-served basis. Register early to ensure you get the camp you want. For a complete listing of DACC’s College For Kids camps with course descriptions visit www.dacccommunityed.coursestorm.com.
