Melissa Hollingsworth Room 128
Ms. Melissa: Floater/Head Teacher

My name is Mrs. Melissa. I have worked at the center for 13 years. I worked 3 years as a teacher’s aide and 10 years as a head teacher. I am a graduate of DACC with an associate’s degree in Psychology and a general bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University. I several years of experience being a head teacher of children from toddlers to school-age. Through my experience with children I believe that providing an enriched positive environment and intentional teaching, children will grow socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually.

While working at the center I have been a part of the DELL-D Project for 4 years.Through DELL-D I have had the opportunity to be a part of intensive professional development institute, with 50 hours of training, conference, and visiting schools. I am part of the committee that plans monthly family events.

  

Shanna Forthenberry Room 120
Ms. Shanna: 4 & 5 year old Teacher

My name is Ms. Shanna. I have an associate degree in Early Childhood (DACC). I have worked at the Child Development Center for 6 years. My classroom participates in the DELL-D Project Developing Early Language and Literacy Skills in Danville. The project focuses on helping children learn emergent literacy skills which I reached platinum level. The Child Development Center promotes the social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth of the child. I BELIEVE THAT A CHILD LEARNS BEST IN A HEALTHY, POSITIVE, FUN LEARNING ENVIRONMENT.

 

 

Kristin Dailey Room 113
Mrs. Kristin: 2 & 3 year old Teacher

My name is Mrs. Kristin. I have been at the Child Development Center for 7 years. I worked as a teacher’s aide for 4 years and have been a head teacher for 3 years. I earned my associate’s degree here at DACC majoring in Early Childhood Education. My classroom goals for this age group are:

• To learn classroom rules and routine

• Recognize their name and letters of their name

• Recognize shapes, colors and numbers

• To help each child to develop socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually
