Student Assessment Center Guidelines
Alternative Delivery Course Testing
Danville Area Community College
All students should schedule an appointment to take an exam. Students should call the Assessment Center at 443-8708 or online at dacc.edu/depts/assess at least one day in advance of the time you wish to take the exam. Because we schedule a variety of other assessments, it is in the best interest of the student to call as soon as possible and arrive for your test on time. Available space and times fill up quickly, especially during mid-terms and finals week. We will only schedule appointments after we have received the exam from your instructor.
Students are required to show a current picture ID at the time they take each exam. Student ID numbers are now required in place of Social Security numbers for students who are enrolled in classes. Students are also required to sign in and sign out when they come to take an exam.
Students will be required to leave books, book bags, coats, etc. in a designated area. The Assessment Center cannot be responsible for items that are lost or stolen. Once students start testing they are not allowed to go into any bags or purses. No food or drinks are allowed in the computer lab.
Due to the controlled environment of the testing area, students who are testing are the only individuals allowed in the Assessment Center testing areas. Students are not allowed to bring children, family, or friends with them while they test.
Instructions will accompany every test from your instructor. The Assessment Center staff will follow the instructions sent by your instructor and cannot make adjustment unless approved by your instructor. These include due dates, time allowed, or materials used. We will provide any lined or scratch material you need, but will not necessarily provide calculator or any approved aids (i.e. periodic table, table A for Statistics).
All testing areas and rooms are monitored by camera surveillance and Assessment Center staff. No electronic equipment (cell phones, I-Pods, etc.) are allowed in the testing areas. All cell phones and any electronic devices must be placed in our lockers during testing. Students who violate standards of academic integrity will have their test and any books, notes or other material immediately confiscated; and the incident will be recorded, in writing, to the instructor and the Dean of Student Services and Student Conduct.
