COURSE DESCRIPTION:
A course to increase proficiency in preparation and presentation of theatrical performance; credit is awarded for performing in a major college production.

COURSE OBJECTIVES / GOALS:
A student will be able to:
  1. Explain theories of performing on the stage.
  2. Demonstrate theories of performing on the stage.
  3. Demonstrate critical awareness of performance situations.
  4. Critique other student’s performance.


TOPICAL OUTLINE:
Weekly
The student will take part in the following:
Production selection
Reading of plays and using an evaluation guideline for selection
Auditioning
Preparing audition materials
Discussion of practice and performance of selected production
Blocking and discussion of characters
Rehearsals
Planning and setting dates
Evaluation
Performance evaluation by instructor and actor
Analysis paper of the production by student

TEXTBOOK / SPECIAL MATERIALS:
Selected play script

EVALUATION:
  1. 4 written evaluations of other students’ performances 50 pts each
  2. Analysis paper of a performance 100 pts
  3. Performance in a production 200 pts
 Total 500 pts
