COURSE DESCRIPTION:
A course to develope the fundamentals introduced in Acting I, emphasizing an intensive approach to acting exercises, improvisations, and scene study.

COURSE OBJECTIVES / GOALS:
The Acting Student will learn stechniques to prepare them for advanced principles of acting.
The Acting Student will leran how to do improvisations.
The Acting Student will learn to do scene study.
The Acting Student should be able to choose/perform appropriate selections from drama genre.
The Acting Student should provide enjoyment for both himself/herself as the performer and audience.
The Acting Student should be able to perform in a production.
TOPICAL OUTLINE:
The course will cover the following topics in the following order from Theater: A Way of Seeing, by M.S. Barranger, 6th Edition, Wadsworth Publishing, Belmont,CA., 2005.

2. The Image Makers: The Playwright
3. Perspectives and Forms of Theatrical Writing
4. The Image Makers: The Actor
5. The Image Makers: The Producer
6. The Image Makers: The Director
7. The Image Makers: The Designers
8. The Image Makers: The Designers
9. Structures of Seeing
10. Drama’s Conventions and Language
11. Alternative Theatrical Spaces
12. Viewpoints

EVALUATION:
50% of the final grade is based on acting performance.
50% of the final grade is based on written papers and exams

A. Acting Performance: There will be a total of 3 performances.  One performance wil be a one act play presented to an audience.  Students will select their own material from drama genre.

B. Written Papers: Students will attend two productions and write analysis papers.

C. Performance Critiques/Evaluations: The student will write 4-6 evaluations of other students’ performances.

D. Written exams will be used to test knowledge on textbook materials.
