COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Database models, using a database system, commercial databases, database processing and procedures, and integration of database systems will be discussed. File processing techniques, administration of database structures, backup and recovery, queries, and database analysis and design will also be covered. Labs, working with SQL, will be assigned to emphasize these topics.

PREREQUISITES:
INFO224 or INFO244

COURSE OBJECTIVES / GOALS:
  • Be able to list the advantages and disadvantages of Database processing.
  • Be able to define and explain a Database environment.
  • Understand common commercial Databases such as: MS SQL Server and Oracle
  • Understand considerations which affect computer performance.
  • Be able to list commonly used design tools for end users.
  • Know how to succeed with Data modeling.
  • Know the productivity and flexibility aspects of Database.
  • Understand the improvements in productivity gained when using a Fourth Generation Language compared to traditional programming languages.
