Welcome to Danville Area Community College and our Athletic Department. Danville competes in six sports and is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) as well as Region 24 in the state of Illinois. DACC competes at the NJCAA Division II level and our coaching staff is committed to moving young people on to four-year institutions. Westrive to win in the classroom and on the field of competition while also building character of our student-athletes. We believe that competing at the collegiate level is a privilege and that our student-athletes must take care of the classroom before they can compete. The ticket to the future is in the classroom. Ina, IL - For the second year in a row, the Danville Area Community College Women's Cross Country team has won the Region 24 title. The Lady Jaguars placed 3 runners in the top 10 of the event, held at Rend Lake College, including Lisa Ponder (Tuscola, IL), the race winner, with a time of 19:36. DACC's Jenifer Luna (Onley, IL) placed 4th, with a time of 20:25 and Alicia Hightower (Shelbyville, IL) finished 6th with a time of 20:40.
Ponder, Luna, and Hightower have all earned All-Region 24 honors for their performances.
In the Men's race, the Jaguars earned a 2nd place finish, just behind race winner Lincoln College. The Jaguars also placed 3 runners in the top 10. DACC's Colten Shaw (Amboy, IL) was runner-up with a time of 26:43, Eric Vlaar finished 4th (26:52), and Austin Dart (Robinson, IL) placed 6th with a time of 27:00.
Shaw, Vlaar, and Dart were named All-Region for their performance at the Region race.
Up next, the qualifiers from the Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams will face the Nations best runners at the NJCAA National Cross Country meet, held at the same course at Rend Lake College on Saturday, November 10th.
